- Global Start-Up Business Plan Competition
The Global Start-Up Business Plan Competition (GSBPC) calls on potential and existing entrepreneurs to participate by submitting their innovative entrepreneurial ideas by means of a Business Plan Template, which will be reviewed by a team of experts. The three participants or teams with the best business plans will be invited to attend the prize-winners’ event in Vienna on 21 to 25 November 2016, during the celebration of UNIDO’s 50th Anniversary.

- UNIDO 50th Anniversary!
On 17 November 1966, the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) was established as a special organ of the United Nations General Assembly to assist, promote and accelerate the industrialization of developing countries, with a particular emphasis on manufacturing. At UNIDO’s second General Conference, held in 1975 in Lima, Peru, a declaration was adopted in which, for the first time, industrial development objectives were quantified internationally.

- Vienna Energy Forum 2015
The Vienna Energy Forum 2015 (VEF 2015) will take place only a few months before the Sustainable Development Goals Summit in New York and the UNFCCC Conference of the Parties (COP 21) in Paris. The DG, LI Yong visited the Russian Federation from 23-24 October 2013. The DG was accompanied by H.E. Mr. Vladimir Voronkov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to UNIDO, Vienna and UNIDO staff members including, Mr. Zhao Jie, Special Assistant to the Director General, Ms. Olga Memedovic, Chief, Europe and NIS Programme, Ms. Marina Ploutakhina, Chief, Energy Efficiency, Energy and Climate Change and Mr. S. Korotkov, Director of UNIDO CIIC Moscow.
- Nevsky Ecological Congress backs UNIDO’s Green Industry initiative
ST. PETERSBURG, Russia, 17 May 2011 – The Director-General of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), Kandeh K. Yumkella, today called for a fundamental change in the way the world produces and consumes, saying that countries should green their economies.
“We need a fundamental change in how we produce, consume and exchange goods. This is how we can green our economies, our growth strategies, and our industries, creating new green jobs, stimulating green investments, and encouraging green innovations,” said Yumkella. He was speaking at the Fourth Nevsky International Ecological Congress in St. Petersburg.
