- UNIDO Centre in the Russian Federation supported the delegation from Turkmenistan, which arrived to work within the framework of UNIDO project on the Montreal Protocol

Turkmenistan is actively working to reduce greenhouse gas emissions that cause global warming. In 2020, the country acceded to the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. The amendment provides for a phased reduction in the consumption of hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) — synthetic greenhouse gases with a very high global warming potential (GWP). HFCs are used in many areas of economic activity, including refrigeration equipment and air conditioning systems.
