Powering the Future Through International Cooperation: UNIDO at Russian Energy Week 2026

The 9th Russian Energy Week International Forum (REW 2026) took place in Moscow on 14–16 October 2026, bringing together international stakeholders to discuss energy development, global energy security, technological innovation and international cooperation.
Igor Kozhin, Head of the UNIDO Centre for International Industrial Cooperation in the Russian Federation, attended the Forum, representing the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) on behalf of its Director General, Gerd Müller.
Held under the theme „From Energy Resources and Technologies to Future Prosperity,“ the Forum brought together approximately 6,600 participants and media representatives from 85 countries, including government officials, representatives of international organizations, leading energy companies, and members of the scientific and expert communities.
The business programme addressed a broad range of topics, including the transformation of global energy markets, the development of new energy sources, energy efficiency, advanced technologies, investment in energy infrastructure, and the strengthening of international partnerships.
During the Forum, Igor Kozhin attended key sessions of the business programme, including two plenary sessions, focusing on strategic challenges facing the energy sector and opportunities for international cooperation.
One of the Forum’s highlights was the plenary session entitled „Resilience in the Face of Geopolitical Shocks,“ which brought together senior government officials and executives of major energy companies to discuss global energy challenges, market stability, international partnerships, and the technological transformation of the energy sector.
Particular attention was given to climate-related issues, digitalization, innovative industrial solutions, and improving the efficiency of energy resource utilization.
The Forum also featured a large-scale exhibition of equipment and technologies for the fuel and energy sector, showcasing advanced developments and innovative solutions for energy production, transportation and distribution.
UNIDO’s representation at Russian Energy Week highlighted the importance of international dialogue on energy and industrial development. Promoting energy efficiency, environmentally sustainable technologies and innovation remains an important part of UNIDO’s mandate to advance inclusive and sustainable industrial development.
Russian Energy Week 2026 served as an important international platform for discussing current challenges and future prospects of the energy sector, exchanging knowledge and experience, strengthening existing partnerships, and establishing new professional connections to foster international industrial and technological cooperation.
