UNIDO Day 2025 at Shanghai Technology Fair

A major international event, the China (Shanghai) International Technology Fair (CSITF), which is the only national-level expo in China dedicated to promoting technology, was held in Shanghai from 11 to 13 June. The main concept of the Shanghai International Technology Fair is „technology making life more exciting“, with the theme of „Innovation-driven development, intellectual property rights protection and promotion of technology trade“. It aims to actively build an authoritative platform for displaying, sharing and serving technology trade by integrating domestic and foreign scientific and technological strength and innovative achievements, and promoting the innovation upgrading strategy.

UNIDO has fully supported the Fair and held UNIDO Day at the event for the last ten years. The Fair has once again become an important platform for strengthening cooperation and seeking common development in the field of technology trade.

UNIDO Day 2025 was dedicated to the theme “Global Collaboration, Inspiring Open Innovation for Industry and Sustainable Development Goals”, calling for a new era of sustainable development, driven by new qualitative productive forces, including both digital transformation and green transformation technologies that are changing the future of industry.

As part of the events, another meeting of the Heads of Investment and Technology Promotion Offices (ITPO) was also held, where topical issues related to Industry 4.0, women’s entrepreneurship, achievements in industrial innovation and green technologies were discussed. At the panel discussion, the Head of the Russia Office Igor Kozhin spoke about how Russia plans to implement its transformation to promote industrial modernization and the introduction of industrial innovation, emphasizing that the modernization of the industrial base occurs, among other things, through investments in digitalization, advanced manufacturing and circular economy models.

During the Technology Fair, UNIDO organized an open stage to showcase UNIDO’s best practices and applications of technologies, showing examples of investment mobilization and global application of UNIDO ITP network technologies, and highlighting the global demand for deployment and matchmaking for UNIDO technical cooperation projects.
