UNIDO Centre participated in the ICIE meeting

On March 26, the regular meeting of the Council of the International Congress of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs (ICIE) was held at the ICIE headquarters in Moscow. Participants discussed a wide range of issues, from personnel changes and membership expansion to developing cooperation with Asia and BRICS. Chaired by Council Chairman Vasily Pavlovich Tarlev and ICIE President Artem Yuryevich Chaika, the meeting was held in a constructive atmosphere, confirming the organization’s dynamic development.

One of the key events was the election of Vyacheslav Konstantinovich Pshenichnikov as First Deputy Chairman of the ICIE Council and Valery Aleksandrovich Kazyulin as Executive Secretary of the ICIE Council. Maxim Vladimirovich Belopotapov was also elected as First Executive Vice President of the Congress.

The Council then considered the admission of new members to the ICIE. Several influential Russian companies were admitted to the organization. A partnership agreement was signed with the Slovak-Eurasian Chamber of Commerce. These changes will expand the Congress’s network, strengthening its influence in global markets.

Considerable attention was paid to prospects for cooperation with China and the countries of Northeast and Southeast Asia. Speakers M.V. Belopatapov, E.A. Rusetskiy, and V. Remyga presented an analysis of opportunities for joint projects in logistics, high technology, and the agro-industrial complex.

Particular emphasis was placed on the role of the ICIE within the BRICS association. Mikhail Sergeyevich Cherepanov spoke about mechanisms for supporting micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) through business cooperation. The Congress will offer a platform for exchanging experiences and entering the markets of Brazil, India, China, and other countries. „BRICS is not only about politics, but also about real business opportunities,“ Cherepanov stated, announcing a series of forums in 2026–2027.

Vasili Tarlev reported on the work to establish a group to prepare the ICIE Development Strategy for the medium term (2026–2030). The document will include goals for digitalization, expansion into Africa and Latin America, and strengthening the promotion of business interests. The Council instructed that the strategy be finalized by June.

Representatives of the Slovak-Eurasian Chamber of Commerce also addressed the Council. The speakers emphasized the potential for joint trade missions and investments.

Finally, the Council decided to terminate the mandates of several ICIE members upon expiration of their terms or upon personal resignation, which will allow for a renewed composition and increased effectiveness.

The meeting concluded with optimistic forecasts: the ICIE is strengthening its position as a key player in international business dialogue and continues to develop in this capacity.
