August 17, 2024
On 16 August 2024, UNIDO and Kaspersky Lab held a seminar on Industrial Cybersecurity: Global cases for BRICS under the auspices of the UNIDO Global Alliance on Artificial Intelligence for Industry and Manufacturing.
The seminar opened with a welcoming speech by Mr. Ciyong Zou, Deputy Director General and Managing Director of the Directorate for Technical Cooperation and Sustainable Industrial Development at UNIDO, in which he thanked the participants for their active interest in addressing pressing issues of cybersecurity in industry and the introduction of digital technologies.
One of the main topics for discussion was cyber immunity — a special approach to designing IT systems with „built-in“ protection against cyberattacks. Vladimir Slinko, Senior Technology Advisor at Kaspersky Lab, explained in detail the principles of the cyberimmune approach in various business segments and showed success stories of real projects. Andrey Strelkov, Head of Industrial Cybersecurity Product line, told the seminar participants about the need to strengthen the security of modern industrial cyber-physical systems as part of increasing cyber resilience.
Denis Bakhaev, CEO of Aprotech, and Ding Lu, Deputy Director of the Standardization Department and Testing Center of the Institute of Instrument Engineering and Economics of China, spoke at the discussion entitled „Optimization of Industrial Data: Cutting-edge Approaches to Maximizing Data Efficiency in Smart Manufacturing“.
In the panel discussion, the seminar participants discussed that the scale of cyber threats will only expand every year, so it is necessary to take decisive measures to create a safe cyberspace. To counter cyber threats, it is necessary to create, support and distribute high-quality products and conduct educational work, teaching the basics of digital literacy to users and the basics of cyber security.
