MGIMO hosted an international career day

On March 13, as part of MGIMO Career Week, an international career day was held, attended by representatives of the UN system and the International Committee of the Red Cross. This year, the international career day was held as part of events dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the United Nations.

The participants were addressed with welcoming remarks by Vice-Rector for Personnel Policy V.M. Morozov, Director of the UN Information Center in Moscow V.V. Kuznetsov, Head of the Department of Diplomacy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary K.M. Barsky, and Vice-President of the World Federation of the United Nations Association, Head of the UNESCO Department A.N. Borisov.

The Director of the International Organization for Migration Bureau in Moscow, the Director of the FAO Liaison Office with the Russian Federation, the Head of the UNEP Office in Russia, and the Head of the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

Head of the UNIDO Centre for International Industrial Cooperation in the Russian Federation Igor Kozhin spoke about some of the organization’s priorities, including support for sustainable supply chains and increased energy and resource efficiency. As for internships and employment, Mr. Kozhin pointed out the relevant opportunities at UNIDO headquarters in Vienna and in country offices.

Also, as part of the Career Week, from 10 to 15 March, the Atrium of the new MGIMO building hosted the exhibition „Against the Current: Swiss Blue Tech Technologies for the Protection of Water Resources“, organized by the Embassy of the Swiss Confederation in Russia.

The exhibition was timed to coincide with the first World Glacier Day, which will be celebrated on 21 March. It is dedicated to the conservation of water resources, ecosystems and technological solutions for their protection. The exposition is based on advanced transboundary water management technologies developed in Switzerland, as well as innovative methods of adaptation to climate change and sustainable use of natural resources.
