International Conference “Organization of Management of Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment in Russia: the Situation in the Industry and its Prospects”

The UNIDO Center for International Industrial Cooperation in the Russian Federation invites you to take part in the International Conference „Organization of Management of Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment in Russia: the Situation in the Industry and its Prospects“, which will be held 28-29 May 2014 in Moscow in the building of the Analytical Center of the Government of the Russian Federation at Akademika Sakharova, 12.
The conference is organized by the Analytical Center under the Government of the Russian Federation, the UNIDO Centre for International Industrial Cooperation in the Russian Federation, Chamber of Trade and Commerce of the Russian Federation, Sectoral Association of recyclers of electronic and electric equipment (WEEE Recyclers).
Operator of the Conference is the International Centre for the Best Environmental Technologies.
We in Russia understand importance of solution of the problem of ecologically sound management of WEEE. To that end certain steps are being undertaken. We expect adoption in the nearest future of legislation introducing producer responsibility in our country. We hope that the conference could provide additional impetus to creation of a comprehensive system of WEEE management.
The conference will address current problems of the management of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and their in the line with world experience of development, implementation and enforcement of legal requirements for WEEE management, environmental, technological , methodological and legal aspects of collecting, processing and recycling of EEE in Russia and CIS countries.
Particular attention will be given to the discussion of the situation in the field of waste management and recycling in anticipation of the adoption by the State Duma of the mentioned above legislation.
Representatives of international sectoral organizations working in the sphere of WEEE management are expected to the conference. The conference will be attended by representatives of legislative and executive authorities of the federal and regional levels business executives working in the field of management of WEEE, business leaders, manufacturers and importers of electronic equipment, representatives of expert, public and international organizations and industry media. Representatives from UNIDO headquarters will take part too.
Special session will focus on the dissemination of the best available techniques for waste electronic and electrical equipment recycling. Presentations of leading foreign companies working with WEEE and producing equipment for WEEE recycling are planned.
The main objective of the conference is to promote coordination of the authorities and the business community in terms of administration in Russia and the CIS „producer responsibility“. Prepared during the conference recommendations are intended to form the basis for the industry in WEEE management.
Resolution of the conference will be forwarded to the Federation Council and the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the Government of the Russian Federation in order to facilitate formation of Russia’s system of management of waste electrical and electronic equipment.
