Open for registration: Ethiopia’s Second International Agro-Industry Investment Forum

February 09, 2018

5 по 8 марта 2018 года пройдет Второй международный агропромышленный инвестиционный форум в Эфиопии

Seize the opportunity to get involved in one of Africa’s fastest growing economies by participating in Ethiopia’s Second International Agro-Industry Investment Forum (AIFE 2018) hosted by Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn from 5-8 March 2018 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Deadline for registration is 26 February 2018.

AIFE 2018 aims to mobilize private investment in light manufacturing, with a particular focus on sectors with high growth potential, namely agro-processing, textiles and garments, and leather and leather products, as well as related sectors such as packaging and renewable energy. The Forum will present specific investment opportunities and investment incentive regimes, as well as facilitate business linkages through a series of networking activities – including B2B and B2G meetings, an exhibition for national and international companies and a field visit to an industrial park .

The event is organized by the Government of Ethiopia and the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in the framework of the Programme for Country Partnership (PCP), a multi-stakeholder partnership model launched in Ethiopia in 2014 to support the country in achieving its industrial development goals. The development of Integrated Agro-Industrial Parks is one of the main pillars of the Programme in Ethiopia.

In line with the PCP’s approach, the Forum will bring together key stakeholders to foster partnerships for larger development impact. It will gather around 3,000 participants, including representatives of the Government of Ethiopia, development partners, financial institutions and the business sector.

Since the first Forum in 2016, the Government of Ethiopia has continued transforming the country into Africa’s manufacturing hub. Several state-of-the-art industrial parks are already fully operational, hosting international retailers in the textile industry. Four new integrated agro-industrial parks, exclusively for export-bound value-added agricultural products, are in the construction phase. The Government’s efforts have earned it World Bank Group’s ‘Star Reformer Award’ and the ‘2017 United Nations Award’ for its strides in policy reform and facilitation of sustainable investment projects.

The Forum is organized in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
